Sarah is a Nutritionist in the Human Foods Program at FDA. She reviews the evidence related to nutrition labeling and label claims (e.g., updating “healthy” nutrient content claims and implementing the FDA regulatory definition of dietary fiber). Sarah is a member of the U.S.-Canada Joint Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) Federal Working Group, which supports evidence preparation and nutrient prioritization for DRI reviews. Before joining the FDA, she worked at the USDA where she conducted studies on diet and the risk of chronic diseases. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology and PhD. in Molecular Medicine, both from Penn State.
